The Blackstone Chamber of Commerce and The Classic Grill are teaming up with Commonwealth SolutionsVA (a division of STEPS, Inc.) for the "First Community Shred Day." This event is open to the public on Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot next to The Classic Grill. By taking advantage of this service, residents can safely dispose of sensitive documents and better protect themselves against identity theft. The normal rate for shredding is $.10 per pound. However, it is FREE on May 12! For more information, call the Chamber Office at (434) 292-1677.

Blackstone's monthly cruise-ins are scheduled for the last Saturday of the month. The dates are April 28, May 26, June 30, July 28, August 25, September 29, and October 27. The gatherings take place on the Schwartz Tavern lawn and begins at 4:30 PM. For more information, call Osborne at (434) 292-9617.

The Blackstone Chamber of Commerce's golf outing is Friday, May 28. To participate, fill out the registration form. To become a sponsor, call the Chamber office at (434) 292-1677.

The "Hometown Jams" concert series starts in June. Check out the bands that are scheduled to play!

The Division of Workforce Development at Southside Virginia Community College is offering several classes, including: Food Safety Training, Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Grant Writing Workshops and many more. Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill offers many educational health classes every month. Farmer's Markets are open every Wednesday and Saturday morning outside of the Farm Bureau offices on Church Street.
