About our involvement in the community:

In 2007, Blackstone was named a Main Street Community. This means that the town needs residents and businesses to get involved. Volunteer is a very common word there these days. The Benchmark branch in Blackstone is certainly doing its part.

Branch Manager Scott Lewis has been chairman of the Nottoway Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society since 2009. He also served as coach for two of the Crewe Burkeville Youth Baseball teams. Scott is active at his church and has held the office of ward clerk and treasurer since 2006. In the past, Scott has served as Chairman of the Blackstone Chamber of Commerce and Arts and Crafts Festival.

Michell Savee has volunteered as an umpire for the Blackstone Youth Group Association and is on the promotions committee for Downtown Blackstone, Incorporated.

Drive Up Teller Nancy McCann volunteers for the Nottoway 4-H Shooting Club of which her son is a member.

The Blackstone branch supports a variety of civic and youth organizations with monetary and in-kind donations. They have also been a sponsor for many town events such as the Christmas Parade and the Hometown Jams summer concert series.

What's happening at the Blackstone branch:

Recently, Scott Lewis was promoted to Branch Manager and Michell Savee was promoted to Management Trainee-Relationship Banker. Congratulations, Scott and Michell!

Nancy is the coordinator for both the YES Club, a savings club for children 5-12, and $mart$tart, a program for teens 13-18. If you have children between those ages, be sure to bring them in to see Nancy. Details about the programs can be found on this site under "Plan for the Future."
