Steinway Happenings

On Thursday, March 3, Bistro 1888 hosted Steinway Night at the Bistro with a special 4 course dinner.  Here, Chairman Mike Rowe presents Loretta Brown with a dozen roses after she became a member of the 88 Keys Club with a $1,000 donation. 
Steinway Committee member Jayne Elliott enjoyed Steinway Night at the Bistro with several others. 

 

On Sunday, October 24,The Steinway Project held a benefit concert featuring international artist, Elizabeth Schumann.  Over $1,000 was raised from the ticket sales.

 

August 31, 2010 - Ann and Sterling Edmunds announced that they will donate $10,000 to the Steinway Fund if the public matches that amount in gifts by December 25 of this year.

Contributions to the fund can be made by either stopping by the bank, by mailing a check to The Steinway Fund, P.O. Box 834, South Boston, VA 24592, or by contacting a Committee member.

July 10, 2010 - A special event named "Ebony & Ivory" was held at The Prizery to raise money for the Steinway Project. Speakers included Benchmark's President and CEO Mike Walker, South Boston's Mayor Carroll Thackston, and Tommy Edds of Steinway & Sons in New York.

At left, committee members, Dolly Fallen and Mike Rowe, address the crowd. After the event, guests attended "All Night Strut," a show that's part of The Prizery's Summer Theatre Celebration.

March 18, 2010 - Benchmark hosted a reception at The Prizery and announced the Steinway Project. In the photo, Mike Rowe makes the announcement.

The reception was held directly after Italian pianist Massimiliano Valenti's concert.
