Privacy of Consumer Financial Information

At Benchmark Community Bank, keeping your financial information secure has always been one of our most important responsibilities. Congress has passed legislation which says that we must provide to you, in writing, whether or not we share nonpublic personal information pertaining to your accounts with us and the circumstances under which this sharing may occur. Examples of nonpublic personal information include loan payment history, checking account experience, and details of credit transactions.

Therefore, we hereby inform you that we do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our potential, present, or former customers to anyone, except (a) if it is necessary to carry out or enforce a transaction that you have requested, such as ordering checks from another company for your deposit account; (b) to provide information about your accounts to a credit bureau; or (c) as required by law, such as subpoenas for information by federal, state, or local authorities.

We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources: (a) from applications or other forms of services to be provided by us; (b) from other entities which participate in transactions connected with services we provide to you; and (c) from consumer reporting agencies (credit bureaus).

We restrict access to this nonpublic information about you to only those persons within the bank who need to know that information in order to provide products or services which you have requested. In addition, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards for your nonpublic personal information, in compliance with federal regulations.

Children's Online Privacy Policy

About our Kids’ Club and privacy issues
The YES Club is a web-based program for children between the ages of 5 and 13 which encourages saving and teaches financial skills.  It is our policy to respect and protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of information about the special visitors to this part of our website.  Therefore, we have created for the club this Children’s Online Privacy Policy which complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Information collected and posted
The YES Club does not allow children to sign up for the club online and therefore does not collect personal information from children through the site. Any information collected at sign-up, which is always in person with a parent or guardian present, is held in strict confidence.  It is never sold, traded or otherwise shared with any outside sources or business partners.  Nor does the YES Club post personal information such as full name, address, phone number or e-mail address on the YES Club pages.  A YES Club Member Page posts entries related to saving and financial skills from the children along with their photos when there is parental approval and prohibits the inclusion of specific information about a child’s savings account, including dollar amounts.   Our “Ask Savemore” feature, which answers site visitors’ questions, is implemented through e-mail and does not require the inclusion of personal information.  BCB does not use passive technologies such as cookies to collect or track information on visitors to our web pages, including the YES Club pages.
