How to Spot a Fake Check Scam

Other red flags:

  • Words are misspelled on the check, or the spacing of words is inconsistent.
  • The check is missing essential information such as a signature or a bank address or logo.
  • Standard security features such as watermarks or padlock icons are not present on the check.

If you are ever in doubt about a check you have received, speak with a representative at your bank.
